| History
In 1999 Alexis Greene and her father, Jeffrey Greene founded Studio E as a venue for production and marketing of hand painted wallpapers made by artists. Led by Ms. Greene, fine artists from EverGreene Painting Studios*** have contributed their ideas to the design and execution of Studio E’s product line. Mr. Greene sought to reinvent the creative finishes mastered over many years of restoration of magnificent architectural ornamentation and the decorative painting of grand interiors, and bring them to the contemporary luxury interiors market as products. Essentially, they sought to take their internationally recognized decorative finish techniques and make them available as products (wallpaper) to the global market.
Studio E’s ability to create custom wallpapers for individual installations makes it a valuable resource to the design community. The New York City studio is conveniently located for visits by the press and designers. Wallpapers are produced on site by artisans for prompt shipment worldwide.

Hand Printed Collection
|
William Morris, great designer and pioneer of the Arts and Crafts movement, fashioned artistic wallpapers that transcended his age. Henri Matisse and Marc Chagall also influenced the art world with their hand painted wallpapers. Studio E artists reawaken the skills of hand finishing, block printing, stenciling and template painting with a collection of contemporary and retro-modern prints.
Sturdy, textured papers absorb the custom mixed, hand applied paint to produce matte neutral backgrounds. Modern geometric patterns and timeless motifs are then applied using traditional screen printing techniques. |
Metallic Collection
| Studio E brings a sleek, sensuous style to metallic finishes--a dominant interiors theme of our time. Tissue-thin metal leaf is securely worked onto smooth, dense paper, then varnished for durability. Distinctive metal works of art are made by brushing, sanding, glazing and flash gilding with mica powders. A glittering array of bright gold, silver, and copper conjure up images of ancient Egyptian gilding. Distressed steel sets an industrial tone. Patinated metal and blackened and burnt surfaces offer intriguing alternatives. Studio E artists have refined all methods of gilding practice to ensure the stability and longevity of these metallic wallpapers, making them premium products of their type. |

Natural Fibers Collection
| Studio E offers 36” wide “paper-weaves” mounted on sturdy backing for easy installation and smooth, straight edges. Available in solids or a selection of screen prints represented by abstract patterns of bark and cut wood and tailored woven textiles.
